Open Oral–Maxillofacial Imaging Datasets: Progress, Gaps, and the Path Ahead
Systematic review of 105 open oral–maxillofacial imaging datasets (437,538 images from 21 countries). Nearly 80% include annotations, but only 25.7% report annotator qualifications. 83.8% don’t disclose ethics approvals; 61.9% specify reuse licenses (often CC BY). Authors call for standards and AI-specific consent to guide safe dataset reuse and AI development.
