The AAOMS Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. offered a meaningful opportunity for IAOMS to join colleagues from across the specialty and the world in advancing science and strengthening community. We are grateful for the many members, partners, and friends who participated in our programs, visited the IAOMS booth, and supported the IAOMS Foundation. Together, we celebrated the global OMS community while contributing to the exchange of knowledge that continues to shape the specialty.

International Reception: Global Community in Focus

The IAOMS International Reception welcomed colleagues and friends from around the world for an evening of connection, conversation, and international flair. With a Sauerbraten & Pretzel station highlighting Berlin as the destination for ICOMS 2027, attendees enjoyed fellowship while celebrating the momentum of IAOMS following the record-breaking ICOMS 2025 in Singapore. The reception reflected the best of our community through camaraderie, culture, and collaboration.

Booth Engagement: Connections and Contributions

The IAOMS booth was a hub of activity throughout the meeting. Members and visitors stopped by to connect, explore membership, and support the IAOMS Foundation. Several new members joined onsite, and donations helped advance Foundation initiatives.

To thank supporters, IAOMS offered scarves and neckties to new members and donors, while IAOMS Fellows received lapel pins. Member badge ribbons and surgical caps—a popular favorite—were available to all. The booth served as both a gathering place and a reminder of the strength of our international community.

Scientific Contributions: Expert Forum & Abstract Presentations

International Expert Forum

IAOMS joined partners AMCBM and ALACIBU to deliver this year’s International Expert Forum, a program that highlighted diverse surgical expertise and innovation. IAOMS President Dr. Sanjiv Nair presented on vascular malformations, contributing his expertise from Bangalore, India, to a program designed to share knowledge across borders.

Oral Abstract Session

In Oral Abstract Session Two, Dr. Jose S. Sifuentes-Cervantes (University of Michigan) presented findings on the stability of airway expansion after counterclockwise maxillomandibular advancement. Co-authors included IAOMS Foundation Chair Dr. Alejandro Martínez-Garza, alongside colleagues from Mexico and the United States. The study confirmed that airway volume and surface area remain stable postoperatively, contributing important data to the specialty.

Leadership Presence: Voices that Shape the Specialty
