The IAOMS and IAOMS Foundation are proud to present the 2024–2025 Impact Report, a reflection of achievements, challenges, and milestones that have advanced patient care, education, and research across the world. More than a record of activities, this report captures the ways our community is shaping the future of oral and maxillofacial surgery and improving outcomes for patients everywhere.

Strengthening Training and Education

At the heart of our mission are programs that directly transform lives and careers. In 2024–2025, Fellows, Visiting Scholars, and ICOMS Travel Scholars advanced their knowledge at world-class institutions, trained alongside leading surgeons, and returned home with skills and perspectives that will ripple across their communities.

From year-long fellowships supported by stipends, to short-term observerships that provide targeted learning, to opportunities for young surgeons to participate in ICOMS for the first time, these programs embody our mission to make education accessible and impactful.

IAOMS Highlights

In addition to Foundation-led programs, IAOMS itself marked several important milestones:

  • Leadership Transition: Welcoming Dr. Larry Nissen as Executive Director, signaling a new chapter of growth and focus on member value.

  • ICOMS 2025 in Singapore: The largest gathering in our history, with record-breaking attendance, groundbreaking science, and unforgettable opportunities for connection.

  • Revitalized Education: A reimagined Scientific Webinar Series with on-demand access and opportunities for non-members to purchase programs.

  • Global Collaboration: Partnering with the Osteo Science Foundation to deliver the first IAOMS Virtual Conference, focused on regenerative techniques and complex case management.

  • Global Recognition: OMS was formally embedded into the World Health Organization’s emergency surgical care standards, ensuring patients in disaster and conflict zones have access to specialized care.

Support That Fuels Impact

None of these achievements would have been possible without the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and partners. From transformational partners to first-time supporters, every contribution is part of a collective effort to expand opportunities for training, mentorship, and global connection.

The Impact Report recognizes donors across all giving tiers and highlights the corporate partners whose leadership is helping us shape the specialty’s future.

Looking Ahead

The work does not stop here. In the years ahead, IAOMS and the IAOMS Foundation will:

  • Relaunch the Gift of Knowledge program in 2026 to expand access to high-quality education in underserved regions.

  • Introduce a new Orthognathic and TMJ Fellowship.

  • Broaden scholarship opportunities for fellowships, visiting scholars, and ICOMS.

  • Continue strengthening global engagement with members, partners, and international health organizations.

These priorities are bold, but with the support of our community, they are within reach.
